ONGOING INITIATIVES
Making A Difference
The Period Society addresses menstrual inequity in all of its forms to change the way menstruators, especially in India experience this normal biological process. We have several initiatives which seek to improve access to menstrual hygiene products, conduct menstrual hygiene education sessions, spark conversations about reproductive health, break taboos surrounding periods and involve GenZ to lead this movement to end the menstrual taboo and period poverty in India.
MENSTRUAL HYGIENE PRODUCT COLLECTION DRIVES
Menstrual Hygiene Products = Basic Needs
We're extremely excited to host drives to collect menstrual hygiene supplies for women who face a significant financial barrier when it comes to purchasing period products. We're proud to announce that we're hosting our second drive - Samaan- in Mumbai, India in August 2020 ! We intend to create a network of individuals who care about this cause by creating drop boxes in their apartment complexes, disseminating information, and coordinating drop off efforts.
MENSTRUAL HYGIENE EDUCATION MODULES
Let's talk periods
We are developing modules in several different world and regional languages to disseminate information about menstrual hygiene to people across the globe. Our modules are OB/GYN approved. If you fluently speak a language which isn't featured, you're welcome to join our efforts by adapting the module in your language and generating more educational content for our awareness campaign. Please check out our get involved page for further information about collaborations and opportunities!
STUDENT INVOLVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Gen-Z leads the menstrual movement in India
Our goal is to empower passionate individuals, especially students, to emerge as leaders for this movement for menstrual hygiene advocacy and equality within their communities. You can begin a chapter of the Period Society if you are based in any state or union territory in India. Please email info.theperiodsociety@gmail.com for a chapter interest form so that we can begin working with you to set up the chapter. Our get involved page has links for our volunteer applications, and detailed instructions/information about the endless opportunities available for YOU to take action and get involved!
